4 Year Old Chocolate Female
listed 4/19/2008

Jenny is a beautiful 4-year old pure-bred chocolate lab. She has the most precious face imaginable! Jenny came to us at about 2.5 years of age. Jenny lives with 2 other dogs, once of which is one of her puppies, and gets along well with them, though initially she needed some time to be truly comfortable and interactive with the other dog, a rottie mix.

Jenny is mostly an outdoor dog and sleeps in the garage at night in an ungated crate. Jenny is a super sweet dog almost all the time, except when she is awakened out of sleep, or when she is eating food or playing with “her” toy. Because of this, and the new arrival of our baby, we think it’s best that she go to a home with older or no children, and with someone who will be able to train her out of this behavior. At all other times, Jenny has been the most friendly, fun-loving, cuddly dog that we could have hoped for.

Jenny deserves a great home where she’ll receive lots of love and attention. Although she has been an outside dog (including garage) for the past year and a half, she did extremely well when she lived indoors while she was pregnant and nursing the puppies. In fact, she would probably do better in a home where she was allowed to go inside and outside at her own free will. She has not been exposed to children or little kids that we know of, so we aren’t sure exactly how she’ll do in that environment. In all honesty, the best situation for her would be living with a retiree in a house with a big backyard and no other dogs!

We would like to place Jenny in the right home and as such, we would like her new family to be approved by FCRR. In the meantime, you may contact us via email for more information at: nafoss5@hotmail.com.

Note: An FCRR volunteeer has met and evaluated Jenny and will be happy to discuss her findings with you. She can be reached at heidi@fetchingcompanions.org.

6 Week Old Black Pups
listed 4/14/2008

An independent rescue has 12 beautiful black Labrador Puppies for adoption.

There are 7 males and 5 females. They are just 6 weeks and will be ready for their new homes in 2-3 more weeks. All pups are healthy, microchipped and have their first set of shots. A spay/neuter deposit is required to be returned upon spay/neuter of pup by age 6 months and pups can be taken back if they are not spayed or neutered. You will sign a contact to that effect. Volunteers will be following up on all pups adopted to be sure they are spayed and neutered. A home visit and approval are required. Pups need homes where at least one person is home most of the day. If you have a pool, it must be fenced so pups cannot access it. Please e-mail donna@dishgirl.com for terms of adoption and application to adopt.

“Rescues of The Century” presents…..REX!!

Rex was relinquished to us by an owner who could no longer care for him and wanted to put him to sleep. He is a 2 year old lab mix, about 45 lbs.

Rex is neutered and healthy. He is shy with new people, but is loving and playful with those he knows. He could use some basic training and socialization.

Please contact Stephanie Babcock, RVT, Century Vet, 310-559-2500 (work) if you’d like to meet Rex.

1 Year Old Black Male
Listed 11/20/2007

Here is Jeffrey's story: He was adopted as a 12 week old puppy to a family who made a training commitment and didn't follow through. Jeffrey, a young and energetic puppy was left behind when the family and their other dog went everywhere together. JHe's a very smart boy who needs structure and guidance. He never understood where he fit in life and in this family. When Jeffrey began to display excited and insecure puppy behavior, his owners bought a chihuahua and left Jeffrey at a shelter two months later.

He is incredibly responsive and will soon be a graduate of professional training. Jeffrey can be selective when choosing his dog buddies (although he lived with another dog), but we are working on making him feel safe and confident in all situations. His trainer says that he is one of the smartest dogs that she has ever met. Now, at 1 year old and 55 lbs, he needs a home where he will receive structure, unconditional love, and training. He loves to take athletic adventures and to cuddle like a baby.

If you'd like to learn more about Jeffrey, contact Karen at kitfreid@yahoo.com.
