We currently have no foster dogs, but we do provide courtesy listings for owners and rescuers who wish to place dogs. Please take a look at these listings. We also recommend that you consider dogs from either of two fine local Lab rescues, Independent Labrador Rescue, and Southern California Labrador Rescue.

Abi and Levi

Abi and Levi need a loving home because their owner's housing situation no longer allows them to stay with the family.

Both dogs are said to be in excellent health. They are spayed and neutered, licensed, trained and vaccinated. They come with beds, leashes and medical records.

Abi, (the chocolate lab female - mother) is 7 years old, Levi (the yellow lab male - son) is 4 years old.

They are happy at home and very loving pets. They are closely bonded to each other. The owners are looking for a home or family for them that doesn’t have another dog.

If you're interested in making this lovely pair part of your family, please email larry@fetchingcompanions.org and provide a phone number at which you can be reached.

The Curse of the Black Dog

and this one.

It's an astonishing fact that large-breed black dogs die every day, for no other reason than their color.

Superstition and lack of awareness are just as lethal to "dogs of color" as a gun.

These dogs stand almost no chance of being adopted, despite a complete absence of evidence that they're different in any other way from their lighter-colored brethren. Some people think that they're vicious and aggressive; others think that they're boring. Despite the fact that these beliefs are completely untrue, shelters have little choice but to euthanize them, because no one will adopt them.

Please consider adopting a black dog. Click here to learn more about the plight of these poor creatures.
